| Sustainability is an emerging service at
Nacht & Lewis Architects. We believe that buildings should
responsibly respond to the environment. Each project starts
with a project workshop where goals of the client and project
are established. Part of this workshop is focused on the issues
of sustainability. We review the areas of building placement
on the site, the energy and water usage, recycled and recyclability
of materials, and the quality of the indoor air. All of these
points relate to the success and operability of the building.
We feel strongly that the long-term health of the occupants,
the cost of building ownership, and a clean environment all
relate to each other and lead to a successful project.
Projects on the boards that address the above issues are
Natomas High School, Sacramento Public Library at Natomas,
Los Rios Community College at Natomas, and Yuba City USD New
South K-8.
Nacht & Lewis Architects is a member of the United States
Green Building Council. Andrew McPherson, Director of Design,
