| Nacht & Lewis Architects has played an
important role in shaping the skyline of Sacramento. The firm,
established in 1922, has been practicing architecture for more
than 80 years in Northern California. NLA has focused on the
design of both private and public buildings, with an emphasis
on government facilities. Our clients include Federal, state
and county government agencies.
Because NLA is client-focused, our relationships are long-term.
For example, in 1957 we began the planning and design of the
Sacramento County Courthouse. Our role in the expansion of
this massive criminal justice building continues today. The
building, covering an entire city block in downtown Sacramento,
received an honor award for design and a 25th Anniversary
Merit Award for Architectural Significance. NLA's involvement
in this project has seen its masterplanned 40 courts completed
from the planning and design of the original 22 courtrooms.
In addition, the firm has designed renovations and alterations
to the original courts to accommodate the changing needs of
the Judiciary.
Today, NLA has a practice that balances both private and
public sector design efforts. Our experience includes design-build
of commercial and governmental facilities; a strong practice
of educational facility design; a growing healthcare and senior
living facility expertise; and our continued emphasis on justice
and correctional projects.
